Who is the qualification for? This qualification is for individuals that want to start a career in swimming. You may be looking to assist a level 2 swimming teacher or perhaps take a small group of swimmers under the supervision of a level 2 swimming teacher. All swim schools operate differently and there are a variety of roles available for a level 1 assistant swimming teacher. Venue Halton Leisure Centre Moor Lane Widnes WA8 7AQ Dates This course is being delivered in a blended format meaning that you will learn via a combination of online sessions and practical sessions. Monday 22nd September from 5pm till 9pm (Online via Zoom) Tuesday 23rd September from 4pm till 10pm (In person at venue) Wednesday 24th September from 4pm till 10pm (In person at venue) Thursday 25th September from 4pm till 10pm (In person at venue) Friday 26th September from 4pm till 10pm (In person at venue) Cost £385 per person Content You will learn about: The role and responsibilities of a Swimming Assistant The participant journey; Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) and Core Aquatic Skills (CAS) The component parts of the strokes The scientific principles in swimming How to create an inclusive environment The purpose of components of a swimming lesson How to support participants and the Swimming Teacher How to demonstrate effective communication skills How to review your own performance By the end of this course, you will be able to assist a qualified Level 2 Swimming Teacher. Qualification Time 30 hours (26 guided learning hours plus 4 hours self study) Entry Requirements You must be 16 years of age or older on the first day of the course No formal entry requirements or prior experience required Assessment Theoretical questions Observation Review record This qualification is not graded. You will either pass or fail. You will have 12 months to reach the required standard.
