Service Description

Who is the qualification for? This qualification is for individuals that want to start a career in swimming. You may be looking to assist a level 2 swimming teacher or perhaps take a small group of swimmers under the supervision of a level 2 swimming teacher. All swim schools operate differently and there are a variety of roles available for a level 1 assistant swimming teacher. Who is this course awarded by? This course is awarded by Swim England Qualifications and upon successful completion of the course you will receive a nationally recognised certificate of achievement. Whilst your certificate is issued by SEQ, the course itself is delivered by Three Whistles, we are an official training provider of Swim England Qualifications. Venue Halton Leisure Centre Moor Lane Widnes WA8 7AQ Dates This course is being delivered in a combination of online and then practical sessions at the venue. You must attend all sessions to pass the course. Friday 15th January from 5pm till 9pm (Online via Zoom) Saturday 16th January from 9am till 5pm (In person at venue) Friday 23rd January from 5pm till 9pm (Online via Zoom) Saturday 24th January from 9am till 5pm (In person at venue) Cost Early bird price - £385 per learner (If booked before 9th January 2026) Regular price - £415 per learner Content You will learn about: The role and responsibilities of a Swimming Assistant The participant journey; Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS) and Core Aquatic Skills (CAS) The component parts of the strokes The scientific principles in swimming How to create an inclusive environment The purpose of components of a swimming lesson How to support participants and the Swimming Teacher How to demonstrate effective communication skills How to review your own performance By the end of this course, you will be able to assist a qualified Level 2 Swimming Teacher. Qualification Time 30 hours (26 guided learning hours plus 4 hours self study) Entry Requirements You must be 16 years of age or older on the first day of the course No formal entry requirements or prior experience required Assessment Theoretical questions Observation Review record This qualification is not graded. You will either pass or refer. You will have 12 months to reach the required standard.
