You now have a choice!
Swim England have updated the qualification pathway meaning for the first time ever you get to choose how you start your journey. That means that there are a selection of qualifications that suit the needs of different learners. I’m here to help you understand which one suits you.
The brand new level 2 qualification allows you to go direct, there is no longer the pre-requisite to have completed your level 1 swimming assistant qualification first. This means it's great for those with swim club background, coaching qualifications in other sports or maybe you've already worked with children. In fact, if you feel confident, capable and determined then there is no reason to hold back.
The traditional level 1 qualification is still available for those who like to get foundation skills, gain confidence and experience before doing the level 2 when they're ready. Taking this route gives you a more gentle approach into the world of swim teaching, as once qualified you will be under the guidance of a qualified level 2 teacher at all times. For many this is the perfect role, swimming assistants are still widely used by leisure centres across the country and it gives you the chance to gain experience whilst also earning money.
And there's now a third option, the learn to swim helper which gives people from age 14 the opportunity to get involved in the world of aquatics. This exciting short course gives learners an introduction to the strokes and skills needed in swimming. You will then be assigned a mentor who you will help within real life swimming lessons,as you gain 12 hours of experience. This is the perfect way to prepare for the brand new level 2 qualification going forwards.
So whether you're choosing your learn to swim helper, your level 1 or your level 2, here at Three Whistles we make sure you choose the right qualification not just the fastest qualification.
